  • Comments Thread For: Ward on Kovalev's Verbal Jabs: He's Got To See Me, Face To Face

According to IBF, WBA, WBO light heavyweight champion Andre Ward (31-0, 15 KOs), the verbal attacks from challenger Sergey Kovalev (30-1, 26 KOs) are a non-factor when they step in the ring. He says regardless of the words that are being thrown in his direction, Ward is clamoring to get his hands on Kovalev when they collide on June 17th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Why does Ward talk as if Kovalev has any hesitation to see him in the ring again? Kovalev would be down to see him in the street right after their press conferences.

If Kovalev could not "destroy him" the first time, why does he think it will be different this time? Didn't Kovalev bring his A-game the first time? Kovalev's threats are not designed to intimidate ward, he's trying to convince HIMSELF that he can do it. He's angry that he lost, but there is nothing in his history to suggest that he has the skills to do things differently in the rematch.

He speaks! The Amazing Kreskin speaks, kids! LOL!!! Wow, you sure are all in Kovalev's head... in your dreams. He admits and observers admit he trained wrong for the first fight. But hey, if you wanna think he's gonna be sub par twice in a row, go for it friend. LOL!!!

As for Ward, like others have said, he must actually think Kovalev is scared of him. Geez is this ever gonna be a good fight. Hopefully there's a good ref and 3 good solid judges this time.

I like |Ward a LOT. But he's getting way too much of an ego on him. This is one bet I want to lose... I hope Kovalov wins and brings him back down to earth. Even though I'm betting on Ward....

Oooohh he's got to see you, then he will put you on the canvas again

Diversion tactics after it was Ward who *****ed out of the rematch until public pressure was too much

Slap and hug is about be done with, Kovalev is physically right for this fight and was always a smarter boxer than given credit for

Ward's media circus training didn't impress me at all.... I have a good felling he's going to lose. He's taking this fight too lightly and like a joke??? Kovalov isn't a P4P Top 3 for NOTHING!!!!
