Oh boy, you make a good point. Wait. I completely forgot that Kovalev has been busy with Ward/tuneup for Ward for more than a year. Or that Beterbiev just happens to be promoted by GYM, which promotes another 175 lb champion. Wouldn't that fight make sense?

Oh boy! I also forgot that Beterbiev is currently trying to leave GYM because they're afraid of putting anyone of substance into the ring with Beterbiev.

Your little attempts at taking a shot at Kovalev every chance you get are cute and all, but you generally fall flat on your face every time.

^Yea, seriously. I'll add the fact that Beterbiev still hasn't beaten anyone with a pulse and, while I'm super-excited about him, he needs to prove himself before we start saying "Kovalev is scared". I think Beterbiev shows a ton of promise (I might even call myself a fan) but people are doing the typical thing when they aren't happy with the current champ; they find a boogeyman.

The problem with Beterbiev is that he doesn't have rounds in the ring... Since the Cloud fight (included) he only fought 20 rounds in 6 fights (i.e. 68 possible rounds)... this is less than 3.5 rounds/fight... He only carried Johnson into the 7th...

TBH I believe they though Maderna and Prieto would give him some mileage... Now they're stuck with the same problem not knowing how he would do against an actual credible opposition for a long run... Who knows, they might never know if he keeps putting guys asleep in a hurry...

You got fighters like Gvozdyk fighting Chilemba and Gonzalez back to back. Alvarez fighting Bute and Pascal. Barrera fighting Smith. All these guys are fighting each other but oddly enough Beterbiev is being ducked right? But then again you probably think they're all ducking Stevenson too. What a coincidence right?

The thing is facing Beterbiev then would have made sense by maybe putting him aside sooner than later... Get rid of the problem on the resume and move on... Different story now with Kovalev being a chaser just like Beterbiev sort of speak... Also, I suspect Kovalev to be more involved with Russian Mobs than Beterbiev... Just a feeling though...

When I first watched beterbiev (vs Cloud), I said here that he's "tailor made" to KO Andre Ward... But I wanted to watch him getting more rounds per fight -- in fact he looked somehow sloppy vs Johnson, imo...
