Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia Plans to Move Back Down to 135 After Broner Bout

Mikey Garcia doesn't consider his fight against Adrien Broner a permanent move to 140 pounds. The undefeated Garcia expects to move back down to the lightweight division after battling Broner on July 29 at an undetermined site (Showtime). Garcia considered the opportunity to box Broner too good and too lucrative to pass up, thus the WBC 135-pound champion temporarily set aside plans to participate in lightweight title unification fights.

I agree that he wants to keep away from Crawford. Mikey knows that if he doesn't provide notice in advance that the "Do you want Crawford next" questions will immediately come his way and vice versa.

Mikey doesn't want to answer that question in the ring after the fight if he wins, which imo he does so he has prepared his exit strategy in advance.

lol. Are you that desperate to see him lose you want him to move up just for the sake of it? While he still has business at 140 there's no need to move up. It will happen when it happens no need to force it whilst he's comfortably making 140.

They want to stay away from Crawford. If anyone doubts this I can post videos of Robert Garcia confirming it.

If the choice is between Linares @ 135, or Crawford @ 140, I would prefer Crawford @ 140. However, if Crawford's choices are Mikey @ 140, or Pacquiao @ 147, Crawford should take Pacquiao @ 147! In my opinion Crawford vs. Garcia @ 140 is a mega-fight more competitive than Pacquiao vs. Crawford, but for the casuals, not so much!
