Comments Thread For: McGregor's Trainer Says No Roach, Reveals Plan For Mayweather

Conor McGregor's longtime head coach, John Kavanagh, has ruled out the possibility of adding Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach to their team, as they prepare for a potential boxing match against five division champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. There are ongoing discussions to finalize the fight, with McGregor already finalizing his portion of the deal with the UFC. The deal on the other end, with Mayweather, is still outstanding.

If Conor can throw 100 punches per round without getting KO'd, he'll win.

Freddie Roach would cost too much. That's what it comes down to.

McGregor 'fighting Floyd is bad enough, but McGregor and Roach together....that is just a horrible thought.

No way that happens. He will be getting countered every time he lets his hands go and I seriously doubt he will have the stamina In the later rounds to be throwing such a high volume of punches.

They are not going to share the takings of a humiliating loss . . It's a cash grab pure and simple . . . The less people involved the bigger slice of the cake

This is a joke of a contest .There is no way Conor can look the part. For sure he can't box with Floyd .He will just have to run and clinch and try to make it ugly .This contest will do much more to harm the sport than anything else.Casual fans will look at the massive gulf in boxing talent and the money these both make and think if that's boxing it's not for me.

Lets be Frank, Floyd was a rare talent but should really be calling out the Spences , Thurmans ,Garcia's and even Porters of this world NOT a guy who's never boxed.

If they put McGreggor in one of those frozen tubes from Demolition Man that heals his body, giving him super strength and stamina and program his brain with with master boxer courses then, ah *** it who am i kidding, he would still lose.

I'm 1 of those people who actually think Conor may have a shot early in the fight. It's more of a hail mary type chance but Floyd does start slow sometimes and he's still 40 years old at the end of the day. Even Mosley was able to rock Floyd and we really don't know Conor is a big guy to Floyd he just may have some pretty heavy hands in 8 oz.

People say they can see Floyd KOing Conor? I doubt it. Maybe make him quit and humiliate him but we've seen no evidence Floyd could really KO someone big as Conor..

No matter what happens I will watch along with millions of other because we've seen crazier things happen in sports who knows Floyd may just take a dive, rematch and make 5-600 million

I would also say he has a chance, how will Floyd train for this, Conor won't have a boxing stance they might get in the same fella as Aldo and alvarez and we all know how that went lol
