      49-0 is not the record

The media loves to advertise 49-0 as the record held by Rocky Marciano and Floyd Mayweather, but Ricardo Finito Lopez retired at 51-0-1. As other posters mentioned, Chavez also surpassed it, although he did not retire undefeated. Many other fighters also went past 49-0, but Finito is the only one that retired undefeated as far as I know.

I think 49-0 was mostly media driven. Mayweather helped pushed the narrative but I think it was in response to the media hyping up Marciano's record.

The comparisons are silly. This guy has built a record on opponents who are bad even by lame minimum weight standards. He could easily win another 20 fights against lame opposition and retire undefeated but nobody with a brain would compare him to Marciano, Mayweaher, Lopez, etc. He's essentially milking an alphabet belt

How many HOF opponents does rat eating Moonsri have on that record. Nobody gives a sht about no 49-0 just like Chavez 75-0 against tomato can dont mean anything.

And Chavez didnt retire undefeated so his name needs to stop being mentioned whenever we talk about undefeated figters.
