Adrien Broner: I know people think I gave him the beating of his life but trust me, Adrien is really strong. The last round against him he came at me like a true warrior, asking for more and more.

There is always a mixture of sh^t you gotta do in boxing to get bigger. You gotta fight & beat good fighters & you gotta fight & beat well known fighters. And few cats are at their peak in talent & popularity at the same time.

A lot of times you can't even "chase greatness" if enough people don't give a f#ck about you so beating well known guys gets your name out there more.

Just go ask GGG, Thurman & Floyd about it. They were calling out top guys for far longer then those guys had a reason to listen to GGG, Thurman or Floyd cuz they were talented guys no one gave a f#ck about. Then when people started to give a f#ck about them they got the fights.

Exactly. And, look what beating Broner did for Marcos Maidana. Made him a fking folk hero in the boxing community.
Just his name sells the fight. People want to see him beat. This is why I think Pac would have been smart to fight Broner after the Mayweather loss. Instead, he let Bob keep him fighting house fighters. SMH...

^^^ and maximizing his prime - this is the time to do bigger things. He may end up looking the smaller man next to Broner, but Mikey's not such a small guy, he's just done incredibly well shrinking down in weight over the years. Mikey has certainly been in enough fights where he was the clear bigger guy, I don't see so much to admire him for going up against a bigger guy this time. Broner has a battle with weight and then he has to face a good technical fighter. It's a good fight, I haven't thought much on it stylistically yet so I'll withhold a prediction until later, but I'm looking forward to it.

It's a fight i can't really wrap my head around quite right. It's an intriguing match up for sure though.

Mikey is basically trying to get his name out there. I'd prefer it if he fought a live dog at 140 but hey, I'm not complaining as long as I get to see Broner get whooped again.

It is a risky fight for him but if he wants recognition as a pound for pound best fighter as he says he does then these are the kind of risky fights he must take. He is only moving up 5 pounds. That's just a big steak dinner. He could prove his worth at 135 or 140 by fighting the best fighters at either weight. Broner is one of the better 140 pounders. Crawford is the best at 140 until proven otherwise.

If he wanted to be great he would move up and fight Crawford. Everyone wants to fight Broner because a) He's flawed and b) He has name recognition.

This is a money grab for Mikey.

It's a more logical fight than Canelo-Khan or GGG-Brook. It's a bit of a risk against a larger, marketable opponent. But unlike those two other fights it's one he should be able to win.
