Between the first and second rounds Jackson was trying to give Kovalev instructions and he waved him away and pointed to some Russian dude as if to say "No I'm listening to him." The Russian dude spent the rest of the fight instructing Kovalev and Jackson remained silent after basically being demoted to the position of water boy. Was this ever explained?

What explanation do you want? Kovalev aparently had two trainers there and decided to listen to the Russian, for whatever reason.

Jackson is Kovalev's trainer. I've never seen a fighter all of a sudden in the biggest fight of his career decide he wasn't gonna pay attention to his trainer. And I don't remember that Russian dude taking over training duties in any of Kovalev's fights. Shyt is perplexing.

Great question. JDJ recently said he'd never seen the guy before that weekend, and didn't know he wasn't going to be allowed to speak during the fight. He expressed his frustration and asked how he's supposed to make a gameplan for a guy who isn't going to listen to him during the fight.

People can spin it however they want but it doesn't take a lot of brains to realize that it's not an optimal situation. I like Kovalev as a fighter but he seems to be extremely hard headed, to his detriment.

I have to agree a 100% with you on that,Think Kovalev is maybe the most hardheaded and difficult fighter in the game now at that level, but if he loses he can't wine then if he does everything his own way

Because Egis Klmas is trying to run Kovalev's camp like he runs Usyk's. He made Usyk get rid of Bashir for Wilder's cutman. It's obvious there's a certain type of look Klimas doesn't want in his fighters camp.

Your fighter tells you to shut up in the biggest fight of his career of course you gonna entertain offers from other camps

Jackson is an experienced trainer and two time work champion. Kovalev should be paying attention and get his ego out of the way.

I found it to be really weird too. It's like, why even have him in your corner if you're going to pretend he is not there?
