clinching is determined by who initiates it.

if someone clinches you and you hold him back to prevent holding and hitting then you are not the reason the clinching is happening.

Kell clinches while standing straight up, so u can still go to his body. he's not fouling to the same degree.







also look at the gifs. Ward clinches with his head in your armpit. he's low on the body with double underhooks. he's legit wrestling.

You completely missed the point to NO SURPRISE! The Point is that like Spence Jr, Kovalev will have to come prepared for all of those Tactics. Kell Brook was trying all type of clinches and headlocks but why he couldn't do it successfully is for one Spence Jr stayed low despite being the slightly Taller and Longer Guy and by staying Low he was able to keep his Hands Free and Work UNDERNEATH Kell Brook

Kovalev on the other hand when Ward went for the Clinch like at the Gifs you Posted what is Kovalev doing? CLINCHING BACK while back peddling! I'm no boxing trainer or boxer but common sense tells me that is not how you deal with guys trying to get inside and using clinches

Staying Low and working on the inside with him is how you back him off and make him reluctant to clinch with body work, that is what Spence Jr DID!

Too much B1TCHING about what Ward did and not enough finger pointing at what Kovalev did NOT DO and IMO this could be his downfall in a rematch. this is wrestling tactics. it's why wrestlers beat strikers in MMA.

wrestlers can smother strikes by hooking arms.
