Is he having trouble training in PR?
He's been successful so far, why change something that isn't broken? At least he's keeping his staff and head trainer.

He's just going to use his facilities in Big Bear. Abel is not that good of a trainer anyways. Velez regressed under him and he has no other fighters that are any good aside from GGG.
He's good but certain trainers you have to bend over for to have train you because they're loyal to the STAR.

Khan having to tag along to the Philippines with Pac is one example.

IMO each has their OWN style and each is good for a certain type of boxer.

Like Roach good for Pac but TERRIBLE for Khan. Khan needed a Stewerd.

Roach is now one of the WORST!!! He doesn't even tell their fighters they are LOSING!!!!

"If your coach knows you’re losing in the fourth round, if that was the case, that’s when a trainer needs to step up and say, ‘You know what? Pick up the f-----g pace. You losing.’ " - Mayweather to Roach in Cotto/Canelo

Lots of distractions and too many "friends" that make him lose focus during training camp. Being isolated will help him with that, plus he'll get much better sparring partners.

What happened with Verdejo? I remember seeing him fight a while ago and he seemed to pass the eye test against lesser opposition. Ever since then I've read about how bad he looks. Is it just a matter of him not being able to handle better opponents or is it the forum "experts" spreading hate but not knowing what they're talking about?

Yeah, I remember Gassiev went into a fight against Lebedev.

And it was Abel Sanchez vs. Freddie Roach

And Abel Sanchez and Gassiev came out on top in that fight.

That's make sense.. i think felix won't endure with abel/the summit gym big bear training (hard work and isolated).
also abel sanchez has too many fighter to train: ggg, murat gassiev, denis shafikov, carson jones, nadjib mohammedi, konstantin ponomarev, michel soro, alex saucedo, ruslan madiyev, serhii bohachuk, ben hall.. I don't know with andy ruiz jr

Felix is not setting the world on fire and his claim to a title fight is more gravy than grave. No one is worried about his iron fisted rule.

Still trying to narrow the gap between the high expectation and what he has delivered thus far.
                    Not looking good at all.

I would've taken him to see Mr. Ronnie Shields in Houston, TX!
