Lets All Get Straight on the Boxing Rules!!!

I say all of us but Im really just talking about myself, even though Im sure Im not the only one.

The rule Im talking about is suspensions and so on. When Nevada lays down a suspension, does that just mean in Nevada or everywhere? Im still not sure because Ive heard both.

Is Nevada basically the head place or are they all even? I ask that because when NY suspends a guy, does that also stand everywhere.

Is there a set rule or is it basically a unwritten rule that most everyone stands by because they dont want to step on anyone's toes?

Wasnt Tyson suspended somwhere when he fought in Memphis?

I ask these questions because I saw a article on BT where it said that St. Louis is thinking about letting Zab fight on the Spinks-Karmazin undercard. I dont know if that is fully what the article said because you do have to be a memeber but thats what it sounded like on the headline.

I also remember saying that I think the Oscar-Floyd fight would be in L.A. because its Oscar's hometown, his last fight, and alot of it has to do with Floyd wanting Roger to be in the ring but then someone told me that the suspesion still stands in L.A. or anywhere in the U.S.

I was sold on that until I heard the Judah news. I dont think its a set rule because boxing has no commission and no one runs it but I think its a unwritten rule because bad things could happened and there wouldnt be any kind of authority in the sport. For example, I bet Nevada would be pissed if they suspended Floyd's Uncle and he fought Oscar in L.A. just because of it and they lose out on all that money. No one would suspend guys because they wouldnt trust the other states and boxers could get away with alot of dirty things.

Im still not sure so does anyone know how it is? Could Zab still fight on the Spinks card?

If someone is suspended in Nevada...they can't fight in Nevada; but it' possible for them to fight in any other state. However, usually, if one state suspends a fighter, other states will really nitpick the individual and may chose not to allow him to fight in their state either, just to show uniformity and teach the guy a lesson. Also, there are some states who have no state commission...at least there used to be. I don't think that's changed.

Nevada is not the head of all American boxing commissions; but since so many Big Fights take place in Las Vegas, the Nevada Commission has a lot of pull with other states.

The ABC suppossedly is the unifying commission in the U.S.; but as of yet, hasn't grown any teeth. They are the main commision in name only.

    Make sense?
