Comments Thread For: Golovkin, Thurman Trainers Explain How Brook Can Beat Spence

Later tonight, Kell Brook will make a mandatory defense of his IBF welterweight championship against mandatory challenger Errol Spence at Bramall Lane in Sheffield. Brook (36-1, 25 KOs), returns for the first time since losing the first fight of his pro career, when he was stopped in five rounds by IBF, WBA, WBO, IBF middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin last September at the O2 Arena in London.

Brook will learn early that it won't be working with Spence. Burningham doesn't really want to face Spense with extra momentum of taking the title from Brook. Sanchez like to see that ggg had a good opponent in Brook

This is a fight that should bring out the best real level of both fighters. Right now nobody knows quite what that level is, so a lot of talk is just wild guesswork.

Interesting they both say the same thing basically. Brook with a 3 inch smaller reach and about the same speed. So not easy to get inside but he has to try and do it. It's either that or ship punishment and counter all night.

If Brook is as elite as some think then he needs to show that by feinting and countering without shipping too much incoming. But I have a feeling Brook is going to look real beat up in this fight, but he may still win. Maybe an ugly points win like Ward over Kov.

Good points from both trainers. Agreed, Brook needs to jump out to an early lead and make Spence pay throughout. You can never let a hungry young prospect establish ANY momentum.

Thurman's trainer pulling for Brook because he's scared of Spence

Wouldn't make much sense, for Brook to beat Spence, then Brook is more dangerous. Unless he thinks Brooks leaves 147.

Sanchez was big on Spence, but then the kid started talking crap about GGG. So Sanchez probably wants to see him get smashed.

I care less, I like both, but I like Spence a little more.

They found a way to keep an article with G's name in it! God dang, Loeffler must pay whoever runs this site some real dough.

It is easy to see why G never fought anyone before Jacobs and why he barely struggled past Jacobs. His trainer is a blathering idiot. Yea, get on the inside and outmuscle Spence. Sure, that's the way to beat him. Don't let Spence stay on the outside and box. Just because Spence has won all his fights on the inside and Brook is brilliant at a distance, doesn't mean Brook shouldn't go right at Spence. Eat those body shots, it is better than Spence suddenly transforming into Floyd Joy Mayweather. lmao. Hey at least boxingscene is holding up their end of the agreement with Loeffler to always have at least one of the top stories mention Golovkin.

As for Thurman, he was praying for Brook to win. Now he either admits straight up he is scared of Spence and avoiding him or he gets beaten black and blue by Spence. Thurman is sour, he can beat Porter, Garcia, Khan, Bradley, and probably Brook and Pac too. But he knows he can't hang with Spence.

                    Spence has never fought anyone.
He beats Algieri and Bundu by ko, so Thurman wants to hold off on fighting him, to build it up.
Thurman has surgery so he can't fight Spence.
Now Thurman will have a mandatory against Peterson.
Then he will want a rematch with Porter, to build the Spence fight, you know.
Then he will have another excuse followed by another.
