what a one sided match.. u MIGHT have given chavez 2 rounds at most..

sweet pea is great.. the guy never loses his composure and displays amazing boxing ability. chavez barely hits him..

This fight was messed up ,Pernell clearly won this fight . Look at his face when he hears the draw being read, he looks totally stunned rightfully so.

chavez was chasing that rabbit all over the ring, sweat pea even stopped fighting in the last round to instead hold on to chavez and lets remember all the low blows whitiker gave chavez to slow him down.

Ferocity, true about the low blows but not once in your post did you give ANY sort of credit to an all time great in Pernell. I know you love the latin fighter's but you wouldn't discredit Tito's win over Vargas for his low blow's( After being knocked down). The truth is that the better man won that night and you know that!

I respect pernal whitiker he is a great fighter with out a doubt!

but its tough to say he beat chavez, i remember seeing this fight on ppv, my first ppv and man i was in a daze the whole fight, i was so damn focused on this fight........but i saw it as a draw, whitker did some good things, but chavez was going after him the whole fight. close, close fight.

I respect that and Chavez is a legend himself, Pernell didn't do much that last round but I think he was the deserved winner IMO. It was weird because this is 1 of the few time's where Latin fans actually said they felt that Pernell won in many instances when the fight was discussed. I saw this topic in this forum and it was largely in favor of Pernell but everybody is entilted to their opinion.

If you scored this bout close in any way you should stop scoring fights. I know that's a very assholish thing to say, but this was the biggest robbery of the 1990's and one of the worst decisions ever seen in a major title fight.

Whitaker won that fight by no less than 4 points. I personally had it 9 rounds to 3 for Whitaker. That was the second bullet Chavez' unbeaten streak dodged...or should I say missile.

I still to this day don't understand why I like Chavez so much...he received the shiny end of the stick against two of my all time favorites in Whitaker and Taylor.

ferocity sticking up for latin fighters as usual..whether the comments are biased or not..

I watched this fight about 6 years back ( a replay) and chavez barely won 4 rounds

so you scored for chavez coming forward and missing a lot or whitaker severely outlanding and outboxing chavez?
