Not sure if you meant against Cotto or Marquez, but either way my excitement for the return of either of them just shot from a 5 out of 10 to a 9 out of 10. Marquez vs Matthysse is obviously the awesome fight, that makes sense stylistically and where they are in their careers on so many levels, but even Matthysse against Cotto would be a cool fight. Cotto probably too big which is why Marquez-Matthysse would be better, but still either of those guys against Matthysse would be a great action fight.

How about a four man tournament on HBO between the HBO fighters Cotto, Bradley, Marquez, and Matthysse? Maybe Marquez-Matthysse and Cotto-Bradley, then winners fight? It's only a problem if Marquez and Bradley both win the first fight, but then again there have been worse rematches.

I think Bradley vs Matthysse is also a really cool fight. Bradley-Provodnikov part II? Matthysse even beat Provo. You could do Bradley vs Matthysse and Marquez vs Cotto, then winners fight. But really any tournament between those four would be fun and fit where they are all at in their careers, meaning none of them are really competing to be #1 in a division anymore. Maybe whoever wins the tournament would then have a great claim to fight the #1 welter over on Showtime or something. Bradley and Matthysse could both try that in the future, especially Bradley, but for now it doesn't seem like that's the direction...

Hell, with Manny and Floyd both basically retired, maybe Marquez could even go for it? If he's healthy. I doubt he could beat a Thurman or Spence or Brook, but none of those guys have elite speed so maybe he could counter them. Probably not big enough to KO them though so he probably has no chance, which is why this tournament would be best.

Sounds good to me. Bradley, Marquez, Matthysse and Cotto.

I'd like to see that, but who knows what will transpire.

How about Cotto stops talking **** about fighting a way past prime injured fighter when he has plenty of options available that can give him a better fight?

He can go beg Canelo for a rematch if he wants to get his ass kicked again by a Mexican. This time Canelo will end his career.

I don't think Marquez is serious about fighting anymore which is why he threw out unrealistic weight and re-hydration demands. The same guy who asked for a kings ransom from Arum if they wanted a Pacman rematch and then a year later said he just didn't want to fight Pacman again no matter the amount. Basically admitting that he priced himself as an excuse for a fight he was never going to take. He hasn't fought in 3 years and every time he tries to train he gets injured I think he turns 44 in aug. He doing what he did with Pacman throwing out demands to Cotto that he knows are impossible rather then just say I don't want the fight.

I agree he doesn't need it. Which is why he should just man up and tell Cotto the fight isn't happening or just stop talking about it period. Instead he just making excuses and demands because I don't think he wants to fight anymore. And damn sure doesn't want to fight at a weight Cotto can make. If he wants a payday then he has to move on his demands. Cotto is the bigger draw and more relevant fighter right now. Marquez should stop wasting everyone's time and just officially announce his retirement. he ain't fought in 3 years and turns 44 this year.
