Golden Boy promotes Cotto fighting a guy with no wikipedia page while Oscar blames boxings current state on Mayweather. -
Kamegai is a come forward puncher/brawler type. He has some technical skill, but it is very little technical skill. He is for the most part a come forward brawler/puncher.
He was in fight of the year candidates against Robert Guerrero and Jesus Soto Karass.
He's coming off two fights in a row with Jesus Soto Karass. The last fight in September Kamegai won by knockout over Soto Karass.
If Kamegai was ever going to get a shot against a big name and a chance at big money. It would be now or never. He's at the peak of his career, so it's the right time for him to fight Cotto.
This fight however should not be a World Title fight. I'm okay with the fight it should not be for a World Title though.
I do believe Cotto outclasses Kamegai in an entertaining fight and wins by 8th round TKO.
After this fight they should give Kamegai 2 to 3 soft touches and then he can fight guys like a rematch with Robert Guerrero, he can fight Margacheato as well. Guys like that.
Cotto of course will look to Marquez and other big names to fight next.
Matthysse would be good also and one of the other 154 title holders as well.Comment
