Comments Thread For: Sugar Ray: Brook-Spence Can Show What Boxing Used To Be Like

SUGAR RAY LEONARD believes Kell Brook and Errol Spence can bring back the glory days of the welterweight division. The American ring king reigned supreme in the 10st 7lb division back in the late 1970s and early 1980s when he faced the likes of Roberto Duran, Wilfred Benitez and Thomas Hearns.

Didn't he say this same exact **** before Thurman-Garcia?

I wish PBC would stop paying this man to hype up their fights, and use that money to buy better matchups instead. Like this one, just more of them, a lot more.

This fight is an exciting one on paper, hopefully it would turn out that way in the ring.

Stalling, McCrory, Honeyghan, Bumphus, Simon Brown, Breland and Aaron Davis were all welters fighting in a stacked division. That was when top guys seemed to want to fight each other.
Put Floyd and Manny in that era and I think you'd see some great, competitive fights.

Because Thurman/Garcia was a GREAT fight to make. Don't be the douchebag that uses 20/20 hindsight to pretend it wasn't one of the best fights that could have been made. The fighters themselves didn't perform up to expectations but somehow that makes Ray (not the entire boxing community, just Ray) full of shyt for hyping it?
            GTFO with that idiocy.
