Did Barrera beat a Prime Naseem Hamed?

Naseem Hamed and Emmanuel Stewart claimed that they barely trained for the fight, but rather just focused themselves on making weight with little training on actual boxing, and thus the trainer and the fighter claimed that going in to the fight was super drained along with Naseem's hand damage......

Are these guys making excuses or is it the truth?

Barrera came out and boxed and moved more instead of fighting how he had traditionally. Hamed was completely unprepared for that and got thoroughly beaten. Hamed seemed to think Barrera would be an easy night.

Weight is part of the game. No different than your stamina, your boxing technique, physical strength, etc. People act like boxers are victims of weight. If weight kept you from being your best, then you just weren't as good as the other guy.

I think Steward was doing damage control. He was a great trainer and wouldn't let his boxer fight a guy as respected as Barrera was without the proper training.

I think he beat a lazy, lax Hamed who didn't want to put the work in anymore. He may have beaten him anyway, but the Hamed trashing on here is ridiculous. Guy fought good fighters coming up, good champions and had thunder in he's hands.

No! He beat a over confident and passive Naseem Hamed! (And it was hardly a master class from Antonio Barrera! If Naseem Hamed trained meticulously for a rematch? I think he would of won!)......

He was only about 27 years old going into that fight and MAB had twenty more fights to his credit. Hamed was in his prime, but maybe not at his best? He didn't take the fight seriously enough and perhaps lost his edge due to success. Either way, I think any version of MAB beats any version of Hamed. MAB was the better fighter and had been in with better competition.

Barrera was masterful. Instead the mistake when he had Hamed hurt and go for the kill to get KOed himself. You see him purposely holding back. He had his man figured and and trained to beat him.

Once Hamed's "0" went so his desire to fight

Hamed learnt not to believe in his own hype that night. Talent is not enough at the highest level.
