Khan was never really popular in the UK.

He had some hype post 2004 Olympics by the ******* BBC because of his backstory / age etc.

The biggest reason for his decline in the UK was the Prescott defeat, his reputation suffered beyond repair.

He is popular within the Pakistani community, but mainly only because they like flash lifestyle, fast talking dimwits like Amir in any walk of life. Outside the Pakistani community he is tolerated, but mainly just laughed off as a bit of a Walter Mitty character.
