I don't have anything against Gary. Just when Loma fans start bragging, they toss out Gary's name. They want to say Loma is P4P because of Gary Russell. Gary had a couple of big wins against TBA before he fought Loma, but no A class wins.

Gary was said to be “the next big thing”. Like another member posted recently, and it's hilarious to me still, he said that GRJ was the “original Errol Spence” around here and other boxing forums. He was supposed to trounce/wash Loma as so many proclaimed he'd do. Loma schooled that ass and gave him a beating, Gary only landed 8% of his power punches (10% total connect rate) and then it became “Gary was unproven, untested!”. Actually, Gary was an Olympian and a favorite to medal for Team USA and was said to have the fastest hands P4P in boxing and is still said to. He also has good/respectable power. So, he loses badly to Loma and then in his fight after next he ices Gonzalez to grab the WBC title, quickly becoming the consensus #1 ranked Featherweight in the world by The Ring and other major media. He's defended twice and finished his last 3 opponents. Nobody at Featherweight wants to fight him because they can't deal with his ridiculous hand speed, they haven't got the skill to (the timing & footwork to neutralize it).

Gary was a blue chip prospect just like Spence still is right now, in fact, and people are already including Spence on their P4P lists LOL, probably even you. It's ridiculous. Gary was The Ring's Prospect of the Year in 2011 along with SI's and ESPN's, “the next big thing” he was going to be. Loma was The Ring's Prospect of the Year in 2013.

Loma is P4P Top 3 and many respected analysts believe he's P4P #1 skill-wise. He doesn't even give up/lose rounds anymore and hasn't since he fought Russell years ago. He's been tooling current & former world titleholders ever since for the last 3 years and continues to improve and look even more comfortable in the ring.

        Hate on, hata.

Prospect of the year? Who did he beat for this prestigious honor? Russell has two names on his record. Loma, and he lost, and Johnny Gonzalez. Johnny was KOd three times before he met Russell. Not a lot of meat in that resume.
