Mayweather should give Cotto a call. He's got 130 pound fighter by the name of Alberto Machado who's 5'10 17-0(15 KO's) that'd would annihilate the hype job Davis.

Javier Fortuna could be a decent option. Jorge Lara would be another decent fight, but I think Lara should take a slower road back. Walters if he wants the fight would be a good match-up same with Sosa and if going Lomachenko left over there is always Roman Martinez. Plus there is always good old Jhonny Gonzalez

Hmmm, wasn't aware of that just seen him ranked. Yea thats makes him even less likely than I was thinking I suppose.

At 6ft definitely room for him to put on some weight. Looking at his boxrec it looks like he hasn't been 130 since July 2016 so almost a year now + the fight before that was 135 so 3 of his last 4 fights have been at 135+.

Kinda f#cked up he's still ranked at 130 those facts considered, but lol abc rankings so it makes perfect sense knowing that.

Much better than Farmer IMO. Farmer is ranked #6 by the IBF ranked. So you go from beating #1 to fighting #6.

I get putting him in with Farmer in Baltimore to give him an optional defense for his hometown fans.

I'd just prefer one of the guys I mentioned because young guys should fight progressively better opponents.

I believe he got injured in his last fight doe & will be out awhile so its definitely not happening next.

Randomly Russell F#cking Peters (yes the comedian) was hyping Tevin on some podcast recently. Peters is a big boxing fan for those unaware. I love hearing the boxing name drops famous people have when they are unexpected, but Peters is a fan so its not THAT unexpected he'd come up with Tevin I guess.
All the more reason to fight one of the guys I mentioned.

I juts don't want to see him fight a Farmer or Billy Dib caliber opponent. Those are a step down.

Kid is 22. I think the move is almost assured of being a lateral move if he's fighting again in the summer.

If there is a upward movement next time out I'd bet on it being a smaller one & be a guy like Jason Sosa who was mentioned as a Tank opponent previously.

Looking at the rankings doe I won't be surprised at all if its just some random dude who's name I can't pronounce. Floyd had a bunch of fights vs random, good, but not great caliber guys during his 130lb days too when he was young. Getting some experience vs high, but not super high opponents when you are young & active is a good overall long term +EV move in my book.

I didn't mention Sosa because he got destroyed by Loma. i can't see how he'd be ready to go in the summer. I'd take that over Tevin farner or Dib as well.

I don't think Davis is ready for the top of the division yet. Thats why Roman Martinez, Uchiyama, Salido, Vargas or sosa would be ideal-a step up from who he has fought in preparation for the top guys.

Gervonta Davis should move up to 135 and fight Mikey Garcia.

Garcia is no bigger, he used to fight at 126.

It's going to be Tevin Farmer. They have already built it up.
