  • Comments Thread For: Arum Suggests Crawford's Next Fight Won't Be Televised by HBO

NEW YORK Bob Arum made it clear Saturday night that he won't wait around for an HBO date before scheduling Terence Crawford's return to the ring. Crawford's promoter wants the unbeaten WBC/WBO super lightweight champion to fight sometime in the summer. If that means finding a television partner other than HBO, so be it.

Waiting to see if this turns out to be legit, or another way for him to put on a low-buyrate TopRankTV event.

If Crawford's last name didn't have any vowels he'd already have an HBO date lined up

I see Top Rank getting dropped by HBO pretty soon the same way HBO dropped Al Haymon fighters a few years back......

My first option on what he's suggesting is this is a Sky Sports fight in the UK vs Indongo that'll likely be picked up by Showtime.

My second thought is this could be a fight vs Indongo in the UK that'll be on Sky & streamed or whatever Steve Kim keeps hinting at with Arum that sounds like he could be negotiating a deal with a streaming service player (Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, etc) as we speak.

My third option is this'll be something vs a 147lb PBC guy on FOX or Showtime. I'd say this is a distant third most likely option.

Good luck to HBO with a bunch of non-Americans who's names no one can pronounce with any confidence lol.

Historically non-latino foreigners haven't sold well in boxing outside of a couple guys. But it wouldn't surprise me if they keep going to the lil guys + foreign guys who can fight, but don't require a lot of money & likely never will get into Crawford's pay scale as they'll never be ticket sellers with their consistently dwindling budget. And if Crawford is gone its a solid bet Loma is gone sooner or later from HBO too.

Crawford wants better exposure and a real big money fight. Make sense for him to call out Pac. He knows how good he is and now close to 30 he wants to Bank big. Crawford would rather be on PBC. It's imo a bonafide platform for Americans to be on, All-American

Didn't Bob say something about Broner? that's probably next.
