My guess is that Smith-Dirrell is going to be the co-feature to a bigger fight (Leo Santa Cruz vs Abner Mares II seems to still be in the cue), or that Smith's camp simply objected to fighting in the Detroit area.

Im on the fence in this one. Dirrell is better than given credit for. His close loss to Jack looks a lot better in hindsight. Smith has looked special in some fights and distinctly average in others.

Thats what i mean though. He isnt terrible. He lost to Badou Jack when Jack was still seen as a vulnerable fighter. BJack has proven that he is a top notch fighter since and Dirrells close loss to him doesnt look as bad as it did.

Honestly, Smith should stop Dirrell here but nerves and fighting outside of the UK might make it a closer than should decision win instead.

It's his easiest way to the title as I can see him struggling with DeGale and Groves if he wins the WBA.
