I think that Mayweather doesn't wants to acknowledge anyone unless he can get some spotlight out of it.
He is constantly praising Canelo, but he beat him 12-0.
He is constantly praising his boxers but only with the "they are going to take my place " talk, I don't believe he can really praise someone without making it about himself.
And I like Floyd but despite Joshua haven't accomplish much yet, he clearly doesn't wants to give him credit.

has floyd ever given props to a fighter before without hyping himself up in the next sentence?

floyd: yeah, so and so is a great fighter, but i did what he did years ago already.

No, but we always hear De La Hoya and BHop talking about their accomplishments during press conferences...

Do you know why WesternChamp, because they were boxers!!

Mayweather was asked questions about heavyweight king Anthony Joshua’s rise to global superstardom with victory over Wladimir Klitschko last month.
But Floyds response as always was a robotic script and had nothing to do with the questions asked..

            Floyds response:
“A lot of young, tough competitors out there. A lot of fighters giving the sport of boxing blood, sweat and tears. They’re working hard every day.”
“You’ve got Gervonta Davis, you’ve got Badou Jack – and you have numerous other fighters that aren’t even under the Mayweather banner – working hard and giving the sport blood, sweat and tears.”

He goes off on a tangent and talks about Gervonta Davis and Badou Jack and puts them in the same bracket as Joshua... Then spends the majority if the interview talking about himself.
I don't get your point here. In what way is Joshua better than Gervonta? They are both IBF champs, but Gervonta is more skilled and more fun to watch.

Why are the Brits putting Joshua on a pedestal based on one good win? Joshua isn't all that. Hmmm...

He does that at nearly every presser. The media just don't give a **** to write about it often.

No one is saying he needs to praise AJ.. He can be honest and say what he really thinks even if he says he doesn’t believe the AJ hype.. but he dodged the question which isn’t even a response.

Mayweather has said on multiple occasions that UK is the best and most loyal boxing market.. And AJ has changed boxing in the UK.. So many new fans have joined boxing because of him, it doesn’t hurt Floyd to acknowledge that AJ is doing great things for boxing.. but his ego is way to big.

He talked about himself more than the Davis vs Walsh fight.. he’s not there to promote himself at all. This was a press conference for Davis vs Walsh but Floyd was talking about his strip club.

Do you see De La Hoya talk about his own fights for the majority of the time when doing a press conference on Canelo’s fight?

Boxers get asked questions about other boxers all the time.. he’s a boxing promoter now if people can’t ask him questions about boxing then why is he in the business?

I'm not a Floyd fan but the guy earned the right to put himself above anyone today.

That's not my point though, it's that Joshua is being hyped on 1 good win. People act like he's already done everything that needs to be done when the reality is, he hasn't done anything more than Tyson Fury has. No reason Mayweather needs to be praising this guy. Let Joshua prove himself, like Mayweather did.
