If You Take Away GGG Punching Power WHAT DO YOU HAVE?

I like Buddy, but I think his assessment can apply to many fighters when you remove their strongest asset.
Pacquiao - speed
Ward - counter punching
Canelo - power
D. Garcia - counter punching
Kovalev - power
Crawford - power
Fury - size
Cotto - body punches
Mayweather - IV
Khan would be a top 3 welter if he only had a chin.Comment

Golovkin wasn't knocking everybody out in the amateurs but he seemed to do just fine without relying on his power there, didn't he?
His boxing skills are extremely underrated. Not only is he bigger than Canelo, he's better too. Better technique, better balance, better footwork- he's a more complete fighter all round and that comes from his amateur pedigree.Comment

Oh man, I thought this was a troll thread but you have an actual world-class level trainer saying it. This beyond ******.
Why subtract a fighter's best attribute? Let's take away Mayweather's reflexes. Pacquiao's left hand. Marquez's counter-punching. Hopkin's ring IQ. What are you left with?
Again, why would you ask a hypothetical question like this? It makes no sense. The power is there, it is a constant, game-changing menace.
This is so ridiculous. Honestly, sometimes this is the dumbest sport in the world.Comment

89 punches over 8 rounds isn't getting hit a lot by any stretch of the imagination. 89 is pretty much the peak number of punches he could've landed. Since compubox numbers are always in some way inflated because they can't always see whether a punch was blocked/parried or missed altogether, that stands that he probably landed fewer than 89. That goes for every fight too. Compubox isn't the end all be all obviously, but it's a general barometer of how many punches were "landed."Last edited by AKAcronym; 05-17-2017, 05:30 PM.Comment
