  • Comments Thread For: Nicola Adams: Big Names Can Unite To Raise Women's Boxing

Nicola Adams has little interest in being hailed the best pound-for-pound female boxer in the world - and says her sport's big names can work together to lift it to new heights. The women's professional scene has changed dramatically since Rio 2016, with double Olympic champions Adams and Claressa Shields, and Ireland's five-time world amateur champion Katie Taylor all bolstering the ranks.

I actually like Katie Taylor and for the first time in my life, went out of my way to actively look for a women's fight (her last fight, the one on the undercard of Joshua/Wlad) -- but I live in the states so I wasn't going to be watching this on the Sky PPV (or whatever it was on, I'm assuming Sky); I was watching it on Showtime...so I tried to even find a damn ******. ******ed boxnation and nothing. Oh well I thought -- I'll just catch the replay of her fight on Youtube.

But that **** ain't even on Youtube yet. Look I get that Showtime or HBO ain't about to use any airtime on a Katie Taylor fight, but seriously how is that **** not even Youtube? How are these so called "big names" in women's boxing supposed to elevate their side of things when an actual follower of one of these girls can't even watch them fight...and I'm not even necessarily talking about live (I mean sure that would be nice, but...), I'm just talking about a f**king replay

Don't worry Mike she will be on Showtime possibly this Summer. If not HBO were apparently contacting her promoter also. For what its worth her fight on the Tony Bellew Card the previous month was probably the most entertaining fight on the night. She is like a female version of Leo Santa Cruz in terms of all action and output, but throws hooks more like Canelo in terms of technique. That is why even some ***ist fans are finding it hard to keep denying that she is exciting to watch. I think Clarissa Shields has that style also so future looks bright.

I'd love to be able to see her live on TV on an undercard, particularly against a genuine threat. I think that would be fabulous. But yeah her skills are legit. First time I ever even heard of her was when the Showtime dudes were talking about her (and showing clips of her) during the Linares fight a couple months back -- and I was kinda blown away by her skill set. She has advanced boxing skills...I was really, really impressed.

But I still don't understand why they haven't uploaded her last fight on Youtube yet. To me that's just common sense...you wanna have as much good video out there of her as possible to bring in new fans, right? And it's not like she had a poor performance...from all accounts she won virtually every second of the fight and stopped her opponent in the 7th round.
