Comments Thread For: WBO Prez: De La Hoya Picked Perfect Moment For Canelo-Golovkin

Francisco Valcarcel, president of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), believes Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya picked the perfect moment to finalize the showdown between Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) and Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs).

"Fans have been asking for this fight for at least 2 years"

This is a blatant lie which makes 0 sense.

Two years ago fans were asking for Canelo to fight Cotto. The Cotto fight happened November 2015, which is when the Canelo-GGG fight gained attention and became plausible. The fight was signed 1.6 years after Canelo beat Cotto.

Journalists please stop lying about the timelines of boxing, fans count on your articles to stay informed.

      Thank you.

If you use your brain a little, the public has wanted the winner of Cotto/Martinez for awhile. After that, the winner of Canelo/Cotto.

They've wanted GGG against the biggest name for atleast two years, not it necessarily being Canelo.

              You're reaching way too hard.

The article specifically states that fans have been wanting this fight for 2 years.

Read the ****ing article before spewing your bull**** explanations for the writer. The writer's timeline is off plain and simple, stop reaching.

Saying that Canelo waited until GGG started to be hit in fights is a speculative and an outlandish statement to make for a president of a boxing organisation. WBO president deserves a slap for this.

but that is not what the article said, is it

and Canelo is not responsible for Golovkin failing to get over the line with Cotto, or Ward, etc.....
