Against Tito. His superior footwork and hand speed were very evident. I always felt if he got this decision, he would not have chased that "signature" win against Hop, Floyd and Manny.
I forgot how well DLH boxed

I think he still would have, he was building golden boy at the time of those fights and they were massive money generators. Also Oscar was always trying to challenge himself against the best.
This was one of the saddest cases of a fighter getting a raw decision in a big fight. I hate how he fought in the last three rounds but he won 7 of the first 9 rounds. Worst case it should have been a draw. He out landed him by 120 punches and that includes those pitiful 3 rounds at the end. He was boxing Tito's ears off when he chose to.
One judge gave 3 of the first 4 rounds to Tito; I'd have to go back and rewatch to remember the exact rounds Oscar won but I'm pretty sure after 4 it should have been 4-0 Oscar.Comment

Because of his promoter image it seems like many people forgot how good Oscar was.
He was touted as an olympic champion since he was 13/14, a real prodigy (try to find that type of following for another year boxer at that age).
He had a heart warming story and it was repeated all over the diaries and networks.
He was a star during regional and national tournaments and usually won them easily moving up in division and getting better.
He was touted as the next Arguello (his favorite fighter) and was a great prospect, hand speed, balance, great punch selection, perfect jab and a great left hook.
With some beautiful technique Oscar beat everyone he had to beat to reach the 1992 olympics, he looked awesome scoring many knockdowns including one in the final against Marco Rudolph, the only fighter that beat him in international competition (back in 1991).
He was an olympic champion, with his backstory, his pleasing style, his good look and his incredible talent, Oscar was filling Arenas since and even before his pro debut.
After that almost everyone knows what happened next.
People seems to forget that he beat some awesome champions early in his career just because he lost against some top dogs, he beat Ruelas, Molina, Leija, Carr, Chavez, Quartey, Vargas and Mayorga and was on many controversial fights in the lucky and unlucky side against Molina, Whitaker, Mosley 2, Sturm, Quartey and Trinidad.
He faced everyone, he made the two best fighters of their era the biggest draws in boxing.
He was incredibly talented and also had a great chin and an overlooked quality of catching punches with his gloves like he was doing mittwork with his opponents.
A prime Oscar was elite in the elite and could held his own against anyone in history and i will always respect him because he was the first boxer i ever saw.Comment
