And you say canelo has the better resume?
Yes, he does by a good bit.
People could make a very thin veiled claim for Canelo beating Lara, but nobody could make any claim to Ward beating Kovalev.

Canelo has been in some controversial ones but hands down Ward takes the biscuit when it comes to controversy with his disgraceful unsporting ethic against Kessler which should have seen Ward DQed and fined, the constant clinching and breaking the rules in many of his standout wins.

I don't like either It's just pretty obvious talent wise Canelo has beat better.

I hate to say it but i have to vote other. Im not a fan of Anthony Joshuas personality...but until hes proven wrong in the ring...i think he makes a case for no.1. He could come unstuck as an untested commodity but he seems to somehow pull out the heart and courage needed when the going gets tough. His last outing showed character...and i think defining fights against fury and wilder...if he wins...will put him clearly on top.
