i completely agree with you. Corrales is a big dude. Corrales would catch Pacquiao with a lot of jabs and right hands from the outside. Corrales is just simply too big for pacquiaoOriginally posted by legacyofbrutalityDiego Corrales is like 6 feet tall and on fight night probably weighs around 155 lbs... Pacquiao is my boy but a fight against Diego Corrales would end his career, if he fights at lightweight I think he could dominate some of the smaller lightweights like maybe Chavez but someone like Corrales is too big.Comment

Diego will destroy Manny as well as most 135lbs playas. Manny's greatest asset at the moment is his speed which he still carries up at 130lbs though it isn't like it was at 126lbs. His speed is what's helping him land those power shots and ultimately helps his power period. Without it, he's just a generic southpaw fighter with decent defense and keeps throwing punches. At 135lbs, he'll be hit like he's never been hit before and his punches I don't think will carry the same effect to hurt them.
Also, I don't like how they keep talking like they are gonna just walk right through Larios. It'll be a big mistake. At the press conference Manny was like, yeah, Larios for July and rematch with Morales in October. I guess he assumes the Morales rematch happens even if he loses then because it just didn't sound like he was taking it serious at all. Larios has this big opportunity now and he can easily take it.Comment

Pac will KO Larios eazy. He destroyed Barrera and Moraes. How can he not beat Larios? Shyt, Larios is nothing but a 3K Battery for Pac.Originally posted by moraleskospacisbackits funny how everybody is settin up a schedule like theres no doubt that hes even gonna beat larios, and then beat all the other names or something, he must really got a place in ur guys hearts, well just have to wait and see. and i also had lazcano/casamayor beatin castillo.

Manny's talking in press conference doesn't mean anything. He'll KO Larios. LMFAO! Yo, is that little clip suppose to scare PAC and his fans? Psst...Originally posted by ferocitypacman is in for a surprise
Buddy, do you really think PAC's people are gonna set him up against someone who has a legit shot of doing major damage to PAC in his BACKYARD?!
Boy, you are about as brain damaged as MAB and "El IDIOT".
While you're swinging on Larios's little nuts, if you're so confident that Larios will beat PAC, then let's bet
LOSER LEAVES SITE AND ALL POINTS ON THE TABLE. HOW DOES THAT SOUND TO YOU.
OH and before you answer my question, please slowly take your mouth off Larios's taquito, we wouldn't want any injuries happening before his big k.o. loss to PAC.
'CAUSE I'm sick of hearing those excuses from that Mariachi band that consists of MAB, EM, and JMM.Last edited by multiply; 05-27-2006, 04:02 PM.Comment

I did the original schedule but it was in response to proposals that Manny go up to Lightweight to face the likes of Corrales and Castillo. The schedule was posted to illustrate that Pacquiao does not have to do that to be recognized as one of boxing's greatest, enhance his chances for entry to the IHOF and rake in some big dough. I said in the original post that Manny's plate is already full at Jr. Lightweight, so, he does not have to toy with any idea of putting on additional weight.Originally posted by moraleskospacisbackits funny how everybody is settin up a schedule like theres no doubt that hes even gonna beat larios, and then beat all the other names or something, he must really got a place in ur guys hearts, well just have to wait and see. and i also had lazcano/casamayor beatin castillo.
A two to three year schedule peopled by MAB, Morales, Juarez, Marquez, Barrios, Guzman, et al, though tight, is more to Pacquiao's career boon than prospects against Corrales and Castillo, both of whom I guessed (as I am guessing now) shall not be at Lightweight much longer than mere hours after their upcoming third encounter. The Jr. Lightweight division has not been unified for decades and Pacquiao has a good shot at it.
I think it was a Filipino, Gabriel "Flash" Elorde who last held what amounted to a unified throne, though I'm not sure. Elorde won the widely recognized world title from Harold Gomes, successfully defended it against the same Gomes, Joey Lopes, Sergio Caprari and Auburn Copeland prior to the split that resulted in the creation of the WBA and WBC, both of which recognized Elorde as Jr. Light champ, jointly sanctioning Elorde's subsequent defenses against the likes of Johnny Bizzaro, Love Allotey, Terou Kosaka and others.
The other great ones like Azumah Nelson, Salvador Sanchez, Alexis Arguello, Jeff Fenech, Julio Cesar Chavez and Wilfredo Gomez (who ruled much better at lower weights) did not manage to do it for various reasons, including politics, death, inability (e.g., Gomez who failed to capture the WBC version but subsequently took the WBA version from Rocky Lockridge then lost it on his first defense to Alfredo Layne), or whatever else have you.
With respect unification, Pacquiao has a chance to do The Professor, Chava, El Flaco, JC and company one better, and that shall be a feat that cannot be overlooked when they reckon things at Canastota in the future. It's an opportunity that should not be passed up in favor of a tentative or risky (some would call it foolish) run at a higher weight.
As for looking beyond Larios, I agree that no fighter should look beyond the next fight. It's the fighter's job to focus on each fight. With that said, I quickly add that it is also the job of managers and promoters to look to the future and the future embraces all that are about to come. In Manny's case, Larios and beyond. A manager who does not look to the future cannot deserve his cut of the purse and a promoter who is inept at mapping out then executing future plans should have his license revoked.
As for my looking at the future, well, I'm neither manager nor promoter; I'm a fan, and fans can play fighter, manager, promoter, cornerman, tv commentator, prophet, doomsayer, cheerleader, historian, statistician or whatever else is there to play. That's what fans do. That's why games where fans play whatever role they wish to play, are a thriving business. Majority of fans experience the thrill of sports by empathy. Most baseball fans can't find homeplate even with a magnifying glass, majority of basketball-batty people can't jump an inch and some of those who pay their way expensively to attend Masters' tourneys in Atlanta and Scotland are better off taking their swing to the dance floor. But fans are fans and they have the inherent right to do what fans do. Much in the manner that is proclaimed by self-professed avatars of the "Age of Aquarius" in addressing all creation, to wit, "No less than the trees and the stars, you have the right to be here."
Fans can even criticize other fans, for reasons that may be informed, ill-informed, uninformed, logical, illogical, passionate, clinical, timid, courageous, tipid, confused, sure, etc., etc., etc. as have been seen in threads and posts here at BoxingScene and in other sites that encourage free discussions in their fora.Comment

Hey grayfist, it's good to see that you're playing manager of Manny Pacquiao but I'm not sure if you knew that Manny already announced his interest in politics. By late 2007, he might be running for mayor in his wife's hometown.
I think Pac only has 3 fights left in his career, against Larios, Morales and Barrera. As much as I would like to see Pac vs. Juarez, Barrios, Freitas, Marquez, etc., I don't see those fights happening at all. Pac knows his style is damaging to his health and I think he will retire and pursue another career before he reaches the age of 29.Comment
