How would today's boxing landscape look like if it only had the original 8 divisions and one champ per division? Who do you guys think would be the champ in each weight class?
Boxing with the original 8 divisions

It would look great. There would be way fewer paper champions and sorting out the mess of who is the man per division would be much simpler. It's hard to say for the heavyweight division since you'd have all the cruisers counting as heavyweights. The results IMO, would be surprising with those smaller guys doing much better than some might think.
Light Heavy would be the same but you'd have Degale and the super middles in the mix which might make a difference. GGG would still be the man at 160 but you'd have Lara and both Charlos there. Thurman at welterweight for now, but he'd have Crawford to deal with. Linares at 135 but Loma would be there. Not sure at featherweight, but Rigo would have an impact if he would fight. Don't know about bantamweight, but RG would be forced to fight there where he might look good or he might not. Flyweight would absorb all the 105 and 108 pounders which would be good.
Overall, boxing becomes easier to keep up with and understand. All around good for the sport. -
I'd say Roman at FW
LSC at FeatherW
Mikey at LW
Crawford at WW
GGG at MW
Kovalev/Ward at LHW
Joshua at HW
Was Bantamweight an original category? I'd say Rigo.Comment
