The WBC is one of four belts

Damn I was rooting on Joey Smith to get a big payday title shot type fight. Rooting for him, but think the Nail has got this clean although I could see Smith having a moment or two even if he comes up short if the Nail isn't careful.

The IBF has their defense lined up, and the WBA is having their situation to work through (Cleverly/Braehmer/Jack will likely settle out for the shot). And then you've got the WBO, with arguably the most fluid rules in the sport.

With the new Long Island venue looking toward featuring some local talent (Joe Smith Jr, Chris Algieri, and Marcus Browne sticking out the most), I doubt that Smith Jr and his camp are going to be thirsting after a shot against Gvozdyk, in a fight that likely doesn't guarantee TV, for the WBC's second mandatory position (which isn't an immediately due fight either).

If Joe Smith Jr is going to face another prime young fighter on the rise, why wouldn't his camp fight Marcus Browne, stage it on Long Island, an settle on one of the many TV dates (primetime on Fox, primetime on ESPN, and Showtime Championship Boxing would all work)?

Nothing great about making a part time boxer fight against Olympian with solid amateur background...Gvozdyk will turn him into an alcoholic like Hopkins did to Pavlik, Smith has only lucky punch....Part time boxers and construction workers don't beat experienced Olympians...Sheeps don't eat wolves.

It's even good Gvozdyk got dropped by Karpency, otherwise there would be no intrigue in the fight, you have to give the Anglo a little chance

But that's good. Gvozdyk has Gonzalez and Chilemba and about to add that guy in his resume and Beterbiev still fights Argentinian farmers and feather fisted Germans when his team sabotaged 2 big fights with Barrera and Kovalev
