Joshua's popularity seems to have gone up a lot.

The increased funding for the boxing scene came in 2004 following Khan's success. 2012 was not an indicator of anything. It's irrelevant to the point being made here.

Stepping up will do that. If Wilder steps up I suspect the same would happen.

I like using Google Trends to come up with a view of a fighter's popularity. Take a look:

Not sure what you mean. By nearly every conceivable metric boxing is at its best place in the States in 20 years

                How did Joshua step up???

Fighting 41 y/o coming off a LOSS and year layoff ain't stepping up.

Let's see AJ step to Wilder.

While he’s massive in the UK.. He’s still very much only a UK star. Canelo is a Mexican star but because Mexico has a population that dwarfs UK, right now Canelo is known by more people and that’s because even if everyone in the UK knows AJ.. the UKs population is the same as just one state in America.. Its tiny in the grand scheme of things.

He’s big in Europe and Dubai and is slowly branching out to the US, he’s appearing on ads there now. Because he’s a heavyweight that speaks the part, looks the part and KO everybody.. its only time before he becomes worldwide superstar. He went from 800k twitter followers to 1.1 million just after the fight with Vlad.. He’s surpassed Canelo in terms of followers in just one day.
