the writer is a bit off...."the kind of prodigy mayweather and pac were not?"

floyd beat genaro hernandez for the lineal title at 130.......'nelo beat matthew hatton, who wasnt even ranked at 154 for the belt.....Pacquaio beat a legit lineal champion as well at a young age

dont have to exaggerate to pump nelo up

In September, Golovkin will rage against the machine that Oscar, Saul and Company have created. They have built a disciplined, admirable, cash oriented engine thus far. I just think GGG will hunt Canelo down within 10 stanzas. An exhibition with Junior was not ample prep for the intangibles Golovkin will shower the Ginger Boy with.

Canelo certainly has improved and evolved as a fighter since his fight with Mayweather. Even with 40+ fights he was somewhat green, and took a big leap in opposition from Lopez and Trout to Floyd. He also accepted a catch weight to get that fight, so he deserves some respect for making whatever compromises were necessary to fight the guy at the top. I think he will continue to improve as he fights better opposition. He is still young and can pile up some very impressive wins if he continues to learn and build his boxing IQ in the ring.

I beg to differ. If his boxing IQ was so "amazing", he wouldn't have been so thoroughly outboxed by Mayweather. Even against an ATG like Mayweather, a boxer who has an "amazing" ring IQ wouldn't have been made to look as foolish as he was. I would argue that his ring IQ is good, but you're confusing his ring IQ with his composure. I give Canelo that much, as in the ring he acts like a real pro and remains composed throughout most his fights. Ring IQ has more to do with adaptability during changing fight conditions, which he failed miserably at against FM.

Everything has been in Canelo's favor for a few years now. And spare me the "a side" bull****. I'm not sure what the terms are for GGG-Canelo but we'll see how good Canelo is when he can't weight drain or take advantage of his opponent

Has the weight been set for the fight? I would love to see the fight at 160 and not 157.5 or whatever.

Fighting GGG should prove interesting. Although GGG is a little past his prime it will still be the first time in quite a while where Canelo is fighting in a boxing match where he isn't fighting an opponent who is much smaller than he is physically ,is well past their prime or like in the case of Chavez has a name but limited skills. This fight will sell a lot of tickets and no question it will be an exciting fight but I still fully expect a past his prime GGG will knock Canelo out. To much is being based on the Jacobs fight. Jacobs is the real deal and is a far harder puncher and bigger opponent than Alverez is. Canelo is no Jacobs , good fight but and easy pick for GGG

Canelo's is actually stepping up big time in fighter resistance.

Canelo fight with Lara and Floyd will his last real threats, and it's been years. Kirkland, Cotto, Khan (I can't believe that's real), Smith and Zombie Chavez. That's a whole lot of easy fights for the heavy Canelo.

Brook likely beats each of those fighters, with only Cotto going 12, and Jacobs whoops them.

Canelo experience with Lara and Floyd give him big challenge experience, but nothing like he's about to face. Neither of them were bigger, stronger, fighters who could not only outbox him, but put him to sleep too.

That's like playing for the Chicago Cubs, striking out one game, getting a hit in another, and then playing minor league baseball for a AA team for awhile and jumping to hit against the MLB best pitchers.

Canelo better get a sparring partner that can push him or he will be overwhelmed in the ring by Golovkin.

Canelo is better than the young fighter of 2012 than fought with Floyd.

He looks like a experienced champ right know.
Lol...you're trippin. While I give Canelo credit for getting better. He looks much improved from 2012. But Liam Smith, Chavez Jr, and Amir Khan (last three fights) doesn't scream "experienced champ".
