Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr: 168 is The Best Weight For Me, I'm Staying With Nacho

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-3-1, 32 KOs) is planning to stay with Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain. Chavez Jr, who went through several trainers in the last few years, hired Nacho to prepare for last Saturday's fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

I can't see myself ever buying another Chavez fight after that putrid performance Sat night.

I see no reason for him to keep fighting.

Nacho is not good for him. Jr got his best wins under Roach. Nacho is for much more sophisticated fighters.

When the Canelo/Jr. fight was signed... Only thing I could think about was how he fugged up & picked the WRONG one. His target should have been "Zurdo" Ramirez all along.

At 168 he can actually be competitive. That division is at its weakest since I can remember. If he actually shows up to fight he can hang with Ramirez, Eubank Jr., Groves, Abraham, etc. I would still take DeGale over Chavez, but there are plenty of fights for him at SMW if he chooses to continue his career.
