It's Lineal history speaks for itself: Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, etc...

Now it's Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and we will see who else emerges
the hw div has also been the biggest joke of the sport for long stretches. aj looks like he might be on the throne for awhile BUT if he isnt, the sport wont suffer.

Yeah your right IMO the Heavyweight division really ****** bad from 2004 to 2014. It was horrific. I rarely ever if any time watched fights at Heavyweight during that time. You're absolutely right. It ****** ass bad during those years. The worst I've ever seen the division as far as depth, talent, quality or competition. It just didn't have any of that.

It started to come alive again for me in 2015. Wilder won the WBC title in January and also during that year Joshua emerged, particularly with his knockout wins over Kevin Johnson and Dillian Whyte. Fury with the upset over Klitschko. 2015 is when the new era began and the division showed life again.

Boxing needs the Heavyweights to be watchable and exciting. When the Heavyweights are involved in the talk of boxing with the other divisions, boxing is at it's Healthiest.

Sure the sport can survive without the Heavyweights, of course. But boxing is better when the Heavyweights are relevant.

Trust me, I've missed the Heavyweight division. It's been a long time since the Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis days. So I'm happy that Heavyweight is becoming watchable again. I missed it!

I'm done, I can't talk to you. If you do not understand the significance of the Heavyweight division and it's history. Then there's no point in me wasting my energy typing these letters. Have a good evening sir.

Joshua has everything you want in a fighter. If he is the face of our sport, we are in good hands.
