Almost as shocked as I am Chavez went lower then the limit remember fought tooth and nail for that half lb in negotiations and gave it up on the scale, but almost as shocking canelo went up to 164 I predicted he would come in 160. But it might mean nothing more then he is going to rehydrate less and arrive at same destination. For example if he cut weight to make 160 but came in the ring 175 after rehydration and instead made cut less to easily make 164 but eats less overnight o he comes in the same 175 there is really no difference.

But If he tries to pack on too much weight that will just slow him down tomorrow.

Smart man! I might root for one but bet on the other...Business is Business

In case of close 7-5 fight for Chavez jr, they are giving it to Canelo. That's why it's not safe to bet for Chavez.

Alvarez looked like a little tank and Chavez looked like he could use some ballast. Let's hope they get Julio off his feet and get some solid food into him or it might be a very short night.

That's exactly why I bet Chavez ko. I'm pretty sure he isn't getting a decision unless he dominate's every minute of the fight. I think cabelo probably wins but there's no value in that bet. If Chavez wins, I believe it's by stoppage so 11/1 odds are pretty good.

Jr looked a little drawn, but I've seen fighters look a lot worse and perform well. I think the whole weight thing is overblown with both guys. At this point in their careers, Canelo a natural middleweight and Jr is a natural super middleweight. The notion that Canelo is this light heavyweight that's been shrinking down to 154 or 155 is ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as the notion that Jr is this cruiserweight or heavyweight that's been melting down fighting middleweights.

So how much can he rehydrate? Oscar came in lighter then he needed for pacquioa and they bragged about him being at 147 two weeks before the fight. After easily making weight he couldn't rehydrate the next day. The key is not so much how he looks today but what he looks like tomorrow.
Not sure I quite understand - the worst thing is when you lose the weight quickly. When its done gradually and carefully over time, you can maintain condition better going into the fight. From what I understand, he's kept to a fairly strict regimen over a couple of months to get down to the weight in the right way vs dehydrating a god-awful amount on the weigh-in day, so he's done it the right way.

Not sure what happened with de la hoya as he came in underweight and a mess for the pac fight, but doesn't seem that way with Chavez for this fight - but we'll see.

As for the Martinez fight, Canelo and Martinez are miles apart in style - Martinez (when he had his legs) was all about foot speed and didn't rely on a guard so much as he didn't spend too much time in the pocket, Canelo has poor foot speed and plants more, with more reliance on head movement and guard for defence while countering quickly and accurately.

Canelo will be taking shots in this fight, but likely be giving more than he gets in terms of volume and clean punching. I'm expecting a 12 round fight but easy points decision for Canelo on clean effective punching - but he's going to take a few on the way.

                    Yes, people overexaggerate.

For example, this fighters that are weight bullies, as you say they are only one division down from where they belong.

Same as when they find out a fighter is listed taller than he is. They start saying he's actually three inches shorter. Oh come on, it's just one inch at most.

Angkag Fighters drain the last 5 lbs or more the day of the weighin to maintain muscle mass, you can drain a lot of lbs just water in your body and drying out. You can't rehydrate muscle mass you lost in your body because you were light for too long. That's my point. We will see how Chavez looks tomorrow. Canelo is not going to fight like sergio and he doesn't need to. But he's the naturally smaller fighter would be wise to keep that quickness advantage. Compared to slow Chavez canelo foot speed and quickness is much better. Keep that advantage.
