Comments Thread For: Donnie Nietes Ordered By IBF To Make Mandatory Defense

Along with the IBF's congratulatory letter he received last Tuesday, newly-crowned IBF world flyweight champion Donnie "Ahas" Nietes received an order for a mandatory defense to be scheduled on or before October 29th of this year. Nietes' promoter, ALA Promotions, might just have to reschedule the fighter's plans of unifying titles in the flyweight division.

Donnie is one of the best pure boxers there is. His size will stop him from getting recognized. The comp is very strong in the smaller divisions.

It is but Donnie's management hasn't let him fight that strong comp, with the exception of Fuentes. The other decent guys he's fought like Sosa and Garcia were past their best. He's like Narváez, an excellent fighter whose management waited too long to throw him in with the big boys. Hopefully it's not too late for Nietes

A waste of talent there is. I always wanted a fight between him and Roman Gonzalez.

So he's being told he has to make a mandatory defense when the IBF hasn't even decided who the mandatory is yet? That's a joke, I wanted so see him fight Shiming or Ioka

WTF: It's less then 2 years since in WBA/WBC & IBF held meetings to discuss unifications & decided that they should trump mandatory's. Now the IBF turn tail & it's not good for the sport!

OH! the IBF is doing to much! the fans need to stop recognizing this paper title! they have no respect for proper fights in the sport.
