  • Did Anthony Joshua really gas out in round 5?

Now, i am not saying he wasn't slightly out of breath after the attack, but after watching round 5 again and listening to Froch commentary, i think it was a Wlad left hook that really put him on his jelly legs.

I don't deny he has stamina issues with all that muscle he carries, however, if you watch round 5 again i think it was wlads big shots that really hurt him?

    Thoughts?

    Probably a mixture of both.

He was definitely gassing and then that left hook just made it 10x worse.

He hit the wall then if he did the training the body adjusts and they get a second wind which sees the fight out, its caused by the intensity of the battle.

He was gassed. Took him 4 rounds to get his second wind.

He has a strange gas tank, it's like he loses all his energy when he gets hit with a good shot.

Similar thing happen in the Whyte fight, coming out in the 3rd round after the left hook he looked spent with Whyte landing good bodyshots but then he came out back to normal after a round or 2 with his second wind.

Excactly as Carl Froch saw it. Joshua did not gas, he got hurt. There was one or two really bad looking left hooks that took a lot out of him, and also the reason why he looked so fresh, once he had it out of the system.

He got hurt. He does seem to kind of lose all his energy when he's hurt. He gets hurt and stays hurt but also it has a weird reaction to his energy too.

Exactly, im not ruling out his stamina issues, but a few right hands, and especially a short sharp hook wobbled him.

Ironically abit like froch in the first groves fight where he had cobwebs for 4/5 rounds after the 1st round knock down.

I'm still wondering how wlad lost this fight he seemed in control for large periods.
But wlad used his experience to tire josh out. Josh did well to weather storm and come back

No, he got caught by a left hook and was put on wobbly legs.
