Lucas has been unlucky. The fight vs Peterson should have been for a title, and his other two title shots vs DSG and Postol, his orbital bone broke at crucial times. DSG laced him even though it was an accident, and Postol reinjured it with a punch, but it was a reinjury.

he's had his share of ups and downs like most fighters, but....

IIRC, Lucas had the option of fighting for Lamont's IBF title, but he declined to do so. I think the Swift fight was already on the table and, knowing how the IBF is with their mandatories, why pay the IBF a sanctioning fee only to get stripped of the title?
