  • Comments Thread For: Epic Wembley Win Moves Anthony Joshua To Rare Superstar Air

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Anthony Joshua might have been OK with an easier ascension. But as he stood swollen-faced in a Wembley Stadium ring on Saturday night, the 27-year-old could scarcely have taken a more memorable trip to boxing's most sought-after galaxy. And following a classic 11th-round erasure of a gallant Wladimir Klitschko, the only questions still remaining ask just how high the now-three-belted champion might soar...

That was a performance that could make Joshua a super star. He will need to fight Wilder at some point. I believe his two mandatories are Pulev and Ortiz and those are two top HWs. Not on the level of a Joshua, Wilder Klitschko, or a in shape, motivated Gypsy, but right below. A fight with Fury will almost certainly not be exciting and not a way to endear himself to American fans who watch him in the near future because of the buzz from the show he put on against Wlad. Joshua-Wilder is the fight everyone wants to see that would be mega-big. I do think Joshua would win, but Wilder has the best chance out of anybody. Ever since Ortiz tested dirty, he's looked a little worse every fight from the fight before, like the peds are slowly wearing off. Now he really has no chance against Joshua, and only a tiny chance against Wilder. Still, if Joshua fights Pulev and then some bum and then Fury, he will have lost the American fans he should grab and keep now. Let him fight rematch with Wlad, Pulev, Ortiz, Fury, and then Wilder. The crazy thing is, if he took those fights, he would probably win all of them and would be enshrined as one of the greatest fighters ever.

In his first real fight he narrowly outlasted a stagnant 41 year old coming off a loss, then calls out an obese drug addict for his next opponent.

He’s hardly a superstar, but definitely looks like a contender and not the pretender he has been up till now.

Tyson is even less likely to turn up than runaway Hughie.

Joshua rates above Wilder now because they both fought bums and cab drivers, but with Joshua stepping up to fight and defeat Klitschko and overcoming adversity puts him at the top. We'll only find out with Wilder if and when he fights AJ.
