Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder - The numbers! Low % split or flatfee for Wilder?

    Anthony Joshua, 28 years, UK
    1. Best win: Wladimir Klitschko, a dominant Heavyweight legend, by knockout
    2. Ticket sales: Sells out the biggest venues and huge stadiums within minutes
    3. PPV sales: several million PPVs
    4. Popularity: Worldwide star, quickly becoming the #1 attraction of boxing
    5. Biggest Purse: $20 Million+
    6. Big brand sponsors: 13+

    Deontay Wilder, 31 years, USA
    1. Best win: Bermane Stiverne, fat Jamaican, by decision
    2. Ticket sales: Can't sell out his backyard
    3. PPV sales: 0
    4. Popularity: Even less popular in the USA than Anthony Joshua, unknown outside of the USA.
    5. Biggest purse: $1.4 Million
    6. Big Brand Sponsors: 1

A question to the NSB hobby accountants and A vs B Side advocates:

Assuming this fight happens in the next 12 months in the UK and when looking at their respective numbers, what kind of split does Wilder deserve vs AJ? 10%? 20%? Flatfee of $3 Million? (which would be by far the biggest purse of his career)
    10
Maximum 10% for Wilder and even this is generous.
    10.00%
    1
Wilder can get 20% because of the WBC belt.
    40.00%
    4
Flatfee of $3-5 Million, which would be by far his biggest payday
    50.00%
    5
A Side and numbers don't matter because Wilder is American.

Realistically he doesn't bring a big fan base at the moment, he needs better promotion, better fights & better numbers to put this fight on the map.

It's a big fight right now amongst boxing fans but worldwide wouldn't be that big, Wilder needs to build his profile a lot more.

I'd say about £9 million would be fair seen as Charles Martin got £6 mill & brought even less. But you could argue less because Wilder hasn't made close to that in his career (except for in court against povetkin)

I think 30-35% works. Joshua is the much bigger draw in UK. It actually looks like a ton of money to give him 35% but in the grand scheme of things, you have to give him some excess to make the fight happen.

Wilder has Al Haymon so he will get the best deal possible whatever that number is.

3-5 mill sounds like a deal.

He probably won't be able to tell Hearn to give him much a % of the UK PPVs. Perhaps a strong % of US PPVs though.

This is one of those situations where I just have no idea what the appropriate $ breakdown is. Wilder usually does good viewership numbers so he'll get something good but he isn't the A-side doe.

Charles Martin got £8 mil didn't he? Wilder would get more than that.
