Boxing has great events. Boxing has great fights. Too often in recent memory, those two things haven't aligned. Saturday they did, and it happened in the weight class that needed it the most. It happened in the division that matters the most.

Fight of the year and possibly the best heavyweight fight i have seen for a long time....High drama , knockdowns , gut checks , skill , body punching and a dramatic championship round stoppage and the 2nd knockdown was caused with a five punch combination including a uppercut...beautiful finish

      FOTY!!

Great fight, great article. Fight had me yelling and scaring my wife and dog. Massive respect to both guys. The atmosphere looked amazing as well. Good job to Britain for filling out an arena like that. I wish we could fill out Cowboys stadium for boxing matches.

Fights like this remind me why, for a true fan, boxing is a sport like no other...and I've been struggling to articulate why that is. A fight like this takes the fan on grueling and unpredictable journey...and that journey almost borders on traumatic. I felt the same way after this fight as I did after Martinez v. Chavez, Cotto v. Margarito I, Holyfield v. Bowe I...and even Prior v. Arguello I. Fights like this get etched in the soul of the fan.

What makes it even more memorable is that both Joshua and Wlad showed tremendous respect for each other both up to and, especially, after the fight. These guys carry themselves like true champions. Even my wife, who cannot understand my attraction to the sport, appreciated the beauty of this fight.

What a night! I was at Wembley for this fight and Froch/Groves II - the atmosphere was indescribable. Move over Vegas & NYC - Wembley is the new home of super-fights!

This was a great fight, I just re-watched it and the post fight interviews. Both fighters were humble in the post fight interviews. Wladimir is a good dude; no sour g****s and accepted his defeat in stride.
