    The WBA

Can anyone one tell me how on earth the WBA title was on the line last night?

The WBA yet again prove how farcical of an organisation it really is.

I was of the understanding that in Fury's absense Chagaev won the vacant title?

Thus, shouldn't Fury still hold the "super" version of (their increasingly meaningless world title) until he loses it in the ring?

The WBA and their 3 champs per divsion bull**** has put them below the WBO in terms of prestige.

After Fury vacated the title, the WBA planned to have only one belt. But Oquendo sued the WBA - and somehow won - to get a title shot, because Ruslan Chagaev never followed through with their rematch.

Klitschko would not face Joshua unless the WBA belt was at stake too. So they brought the "regular" belt back and gave the vacant shot to Oquendo.

Shouldn't you be pleased the WBA title is in the hands of a legit fighter?

I am, but the problem with the WBA runs a lot deeper than this.

They are fast becoming a joke.

I am sure they had 4 champs (x2 interim, regular, super) in one division at the same time a few years back.

WBA got rid of the interim heavyweight title. They'll get rid of the super title soon enough. Joshua has to fight Ortiz. Oquendo/Briggs winner has to fight Ustinov. Then the super champion will face the world champion and this whole mess will be over.

Joshua is the super champion. Briggs & Oquendo are schedule to fight soon for the world championship.

Joshua's mandatory is Ortiz. Ustinov is the mandatory for the Briggs/Oquendo winner.

Then the Joshua/Ortiz winner must face the Briggs/Oquendo/Ustinov winner.

I thought they got rid of the regular belt once Chag was stripped.

Anyway, doesn't matter, we know AJ is the best heavy until proven otherwise. I'm all for the AJ v Ortiz fight, the others can go away. Briggs is old and shot, Ustinov has always been rubbish and Oquendo lol

                  Fast becoming?!?! Lol.

I'd say the entire 4 belt structure is a joke and has been since it's inception, but it's been a joke to most fans for years & specifically the WBA has been a favored punchline for many cats. You're late to a party that's been going on awhile I'd say.

If anything the more disturbing trend is the IBO belt keeps getting mentioned with the other 4 belts more & more, like last night, making a new 5 belt structure being accepted by fans more of a reality by the day. If they get some better title holders in just a few more division I think they will sneak inside the legit "world champion" line for many fans very soon.

                    "Best Heavyweight"?

Tyson Fury is the best heavyweight until proven otherwise, he's the LINEAL champion.

                    Why is everyone forgetting this?

As boxing fans we long for a day where there the alphabet soup is no more and there is only one champ per division.

So why don't we all honor this and recognise Fury as the world heavyweight champion?

Joshua is yet to beat a legit reigning world champion.
