Comments Thread For: Parker's Trainer Feels Klitschko Let Joshua Off The Hook in Sixth

Anthony Joshua wasn't wrong when he raised his hands in victory after knocking down Wladimir Klitschko in the fifth round of what looked like a one-sided heavyweight title fight. He was just celebrating too early. The rookie mistake allowed Klitschko to rally, nearly taking the lead as the two men went to the 11th round - four rounds longer than any Joshua fight had ever gone. That's when Joshua unleashed a brutal uppercut that spun Klitschko around, leading to a win that set off British celebrations in Wembley Stadium and beyond Saturday night and cemented the 27-year-old as boxing's new superstar.

Why in the world Wlad has stopped throwing in the Fury fight and this one is beyond me. Despite hurting Joshua and damn near knocking him out, he stopped throwing. He deserved to lose this one.

I agree, he had him but I think thats Klitchko. He got starched early in his career a couple of times and its always in the back of his mind. Joshua for atleast a round was incapable of doing anything to Wlad but he was cautious like Wlad is.

He did but, that's part part of the game. If you fail to finish a guy who's there for the taking, it's a flaw, just the same as any other flaw. It's a shame but it's something Wlad has to live with.

yep, just like futbol if you don't score no matter what you do in the game, how good you play, you don't deserve to win.

I was smacking my head too. JUMP ON HIM! He's gassed and you just hurt him. The best Klitschko was able to muster was several wild left hooks that missed by a yard. You had him dead to rights and didn't throw another serious right hand for the rest of the round. I was rooting for Klitschko since he was the underdog but I really don't understand it when fighters allow their opponents to recover when they are clearly hurt and ready to go. It's probably for the best in terms of health of the division going forward, but it was really frustrating to watch.

The other big flaw was the total neglect of body work, which is what Wlad always does. He ****s that drum a bit when Joshua was doing nothing but sucking wind in 6,7,8 then maybe he doesn't recover so strong plus it makes Joshua defend everything which maybe allows for something big to land upstairs.

It has annoyed me for years watching Wlad and seeing it really cost him just makes me shake my head.

After he strung about 7 punches together and had AJ on the ropes he was missing everything and only landed about 2 punches.

Klitschko admitted he didn't jump on him because he felt Joshua was gassed out at that point and that he would be able to pick him apart slowly and finish him late or win a decision. Which makes sense because you don't want to jump in wildly and get hit with something. But it backfired.
