He looked hurt, but he seemed gassed too.

And to me he seemed more gassed than hurt. Then he took a couple rounds off & then he came back a lil more measured til he had the fight more in hand.

Generally guys don't take off that many rounds cuz their hurt. Typically it takes far less time to recovery from being hurt than it does from being gassed. But to me it seems like both had an impact on him I just think gassing out was the bigger issue.

Also keep in mind Joshua took 0 body punches tonight, how many fights is someone not going to touch his body to try and take some juice out of him.

I'd say its an issue if you gotta dump 2 rounds mid fight to get a 2nd wind.

But yea I think experiencing something like this could help him be more measured & pace himself better in the future so its not like it can't be a learning experience.

Or maybe just try to work on his stamina in the first place, although honestly I just don't know if such a top heavy mfer can ever have a bomb a$$ gas tank.

Those muscles need blood & that sh^t burns hot & fast. Its just sorta gonna be who he is for better sometimes & for worse other times. Its not realllly that different from any other advantages or disadvantages any other particular fighter has with his physical makeup & natural talents.

Imagine if Wlad had invested in Joushas body

Jousha would have gassed very quickly

Someone like Fury attacks the body as much as he does the top

Wlad missed the mark there, Jousha was there for the taking after that knock down, Wlad let him get back in to the fight.

Jousha is very top heavy, when he fell, he fell hard.

He needs a proper trainer, the muscle is actually a hindrance and unnecessary

Does he need to carry all that upper body weight?

The reason I don't see as an issue is he threw a lot of punches to get to that state. With his size it's expected to get tired after such a high volume of punches. We see that with Wilder all the time when he gets excited and throw a lot of punches. If he faded just from the pace of the fight I would say it's a problem. It also would have been a bigger issue if he wasn't able to recover.

AJ punched himself out in the 5th which was why Wlad finished strong that round and dropped him in the 6th. He was breathing heavy through his mouth and started pushing his punches a little. He did recover obviously, but he gets winded easily. Needs to work on his pacing and accuracy which should come with experience and a better conditioning coach.

I definitely agree his size is the issue & sure it coulda not gone as well if he didn't recover, but it'll still be an issue cuz a younger, fresher, harder hitting guy could take wayyyyyyy more advantage of him than Klitschko did & I think Klitschko took pretty solid advantage of it himself.

I honestly thought Joshua was gonna lose based on how he looked in that 6th round. Its a minor goddamn miracle he was able to last 2 rounds or whatever to get to his 2nd wind at all.

I'm not sure how many years younger Klitschko needed to be to have won that, but for sure some younger version of Klitschko wins that fight as played on Joshua's side in some sci-fi fantasy bs type re-imagining of that fight & Joshua needs to be mindful of that & work on fixing his gas tank in whatever way he can.

Whyte did. Check their second round. Whyte was digging in some hard body shots towards the end of the round when Joshua hadn't been unable to recover well which seemed part of the reason Joshua looked tired going back to the corner aswell. Paulie was also commentating on the good body work Whyte was doing at that point.

Wlad rarely goes to the body though anyway, so it's no surprise he didn't try to test AJ there.

Yea Wlad never goes to the body one of my biggest things that always bugs me watching him fight. I get it against smaller guys because he would open himself up, but fighting a man of similar dimensions it doesn't make that much of a difference.

It would have been nice to see him try something a bit different and leaving no stone unturned. Especially in those rounds where Joshua was doing nothing there were so many opportunities because Joshua was totally focused on head defense. Most fighters would hit his midsection which was wide open and made the whole situation worse.
