He gave us a rare gift tonight: a classic fight

We all like certain boxers, but I hope that most of us are ultimately boxing fans, and by definition fans of great fights

The aging legend vs the young lion usually guarantees fireworks. All you need is a legend willing to take the risk. Klitschko did.

Joshua gets a proper transfer; Wlad leaves the sport better. Who can say that?

      He dominated.

      He used his brains.

He learned the game and came back from being KTFO to become the master of the sport JUST like Mayweather in the lower divisions.

      Man he was boring though...

He might have lost the fight but he comes out of it with huge credit i think.

Went out showing glimpses of how great he once was and nearly had Joshua out of there. I hope he retires now. He has nothing to prove anyway and should enjoy his retirement from boxing.

Fury said it best, and it goes for any other current champion. If they can be half as good as champion as Wlad was, they will have had a great career.

Great career, true champion, and always a class act. Wish we have more fighters like him.

I never expected Wlad to show his most respectable boxing side in the twilight of his career during losses. He fought bravely with a lot of heart, none of that clinchfest he was known for. Truly an ATG HW, I still want to see him go out with a W.

Great thread TS thanks, this fight was close to ideal for many Boxing fans. Wladimir is a legend like many of us know and the torch has been passed to Joshua who can go on to do great things as well congratulations to him. Also class and respect was shown too. Wladimir still has a lot left but it would be a great time to retire, his legacy is even more secure now.

Wlad was awesome.... looked like the greatest heavyweight of all time fighting cans, and just got unlucky that he was past-prime when he fought a legitimate threat.

He gave the guy hell while it lasted and still has his devoted pocket rocket wife plus $100m, life ain't that bad for him. I think retirement or one last farewell fight vs a Parker or Wilder.
