Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Down To 169.5-Pounds With 10 Days To Canelo Fight!

When the fight was first made a few months ago, fans were worried about the catch-weight of 164.5-pounds for the Mexican grudge match between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The HBO Pay-Per-View contest takes place on Cinco De Mayo weekend, May 6th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Chavez Jr. has fought as high as 172-pounds in the last few years. The last time he weighed below the super middleweight limit was in 2012, when he was competing in the middleweight division.

Wow... Should make the weight relatively comfortably.
Gotta admit, he's keeping things interesting.

It's a damn accomplishment for this guy to be under 170? What have we come to?

I heard that Chavez has been so hard core in training, that he has no time to do anything else. I talked to one of his people and they told me that he is so dedicated, that they will be able to shave another pound off his weight just by clipping his toenails.

Where's a picture? Why no picture?

I want to see if he looks skeletal already.

The fight of his life. He has to do his best, he don't want to go back to Mexico as a loser.

It's on! This is going to be a good fight, specially if jr can pressure Canelo for 12 rounds
