HBO GO makes you wait several days to see the fights. Showtime Anytime makes the fights available the next day. HBO makes you wait until the next morning for the first replay. Showtime replays the fight right away and then again in the morning.

Every move HBO makes is designed to maximize the published live number. Every move Showtime makes is designed to make things as convenient for the subscriber as possible.

If you want to stream HBO Live there are numerous platforms to do so for cord cutters. People who stream HBO through slingtv, directvNow, ps vue, ect don't effect hbo ratings or any other cable channel?

That's a lie not all these streaming platforms allow Nelson ratings some flat out don't some allow the users to disable it. And what does it matter if HBO GO allows live stream or not you get it for the same price on sling, directv, ps vue, ect. HBO replays the same fight multiple times over weekend and pits it on demand after that. If you watch any of the rebroadcast or on demand it hurts HBO live viewer numbers as well.

It's 2017 every channel out there has streaming and on demand which effects all network ratings. Meaning they are all operating on the same even playing field with ratings. Only your dumb azz thinks this drastically effects one network and not it's competitors. It's a weak crutch to explain showtime tanking ratings that started in 2015 at the same time PBC launched. Sell your fairy tales elsewhere. What hurt showtime is dumb azz haymon taking all showtime fighters off showtime and on different networks for a year and half leaving showtime with zero boxing for long months at a time. And showtime is trying to climb back out that hole that PBC dug for them. All those lost viewers didn't all decide hey let's just watch the fights only on the showtime app. LMAO

People opting out is irrelevant because the numbers are extrapolated from the data Nielson does have. If a service is an vMVPD, Nielson will include the live viewers towards the published HBO number.

Regardless of the platform and how they watxh it mire people consume HBO then Showtime. It's that simple. And prior to PBC showtime was on HBO's heels in boxing ratings. Losing so many fighters and no consistency in seeing a fighter crippled their ratings. One fight a guy is on spike, next he's on ESPN, then he's on showtime, then he's on FOX is terrible way to do business. And the ratings speak for themselves.

Showtime is gaining ground on HBO in a major way when it comes to boxing and while you obsess over the live linear number, HBO & Showtime know the real number of subscribers they're reaching with boxing and that is why HBO is cutting their boxing budget while Showtime is increasing theirs.

Slingtv now offers the option to let nielsen track your viewing for their ratings but you have to enable it on your device to opt in to neilsen ratings. You can leave it disabled and most of the other services don't even give you the option and are flat out not tracked by neilsen. Stop pretending that Showtime is in a bubble where they are the only ones who offer streaming and on demand content that effect their ratings. It's a lame attempt to explain why the ratings suck. Of course. But the point is that HBO purposely makes it annoyingly difficult to watch ways other than live, to help beef up the live number, while Showtime makes it very very easy to watch without counting towards the published number.

So the numbers need to be judged with that in mind.
