Wlad is 41

Vitali retired at 41 and he still looked good and capable of ruling the entire division if he really tried to
let's hope Wlad is made of the same stuff of his older, more badass brother
Unlikely, as we know for certain their chins are made of different stuff. Vitali's was iron, Wlad is glass. Vitali was a warrior and fighter at heart, Wlad is a boxer and a professional smothererComment

I think sometimes as boxing fans we hype up the underdog and want to believe he has a chance even though the favorite will likely win as usual.Comment

Kevin Barry was on the radio this morning chatting about Parker etc, and he was questioned about the upcoming Joshua/Klitchko fight. He went on to say that it was clear Klitchko, in the Fury fight, wanted to throw punches, but his mind and his hands weren't following. He looked like someone who didn't know what to do. The reflexes weren't there, they're gone. And Barry bluntly said, once those reflexes are gone, you aren't getting them back.
16 power punches from Klitchko in 12 rounds.
He then pointed out that Klitchko's only hope is to let his hands go - which in turn, opens himself up to Joshua's power.
I think this is a fair assessment. Klitchko looks in great shape, and he probably has the will to throw punches. But unless his hands are going to listen, he's in for a long, long night.Comment

There really isn't enough to say he's past it. He lost an ugly fight to Fury, but I can't say I am sold that he is done as the top guy.
Joshua has the physical tools to threaten even a prime Wlad, but he has not fought someone anywhere near this level. I think it is a very interesting fight. Wlad's era is probably over, but is Joshua really good enough to take it from him?Comment

Yeah but Wlad has always been a fighter that needs to be comfortable and in control before he throws power shots. Fury's movement never allowed Wlad to set himself.
I think some credit needs to go to Fury for that. Fighters that can offset opponents with intelligent movement will always cut their opponents workrate down significantly. That's not to say that Klitschko can still pull the trigger either, it might just be a bit of both. Fury is about as awkward as they come for a HW, especially one that size.
One thing that's for sure is Joshua will be a much more stationary target than Fury, so we will find out for sure if Wlad is gun shy or not.Last edited by deathofaclown; 04-26-2017, 07:04 PM.Comment

Oh yea. I think a lot of people have built up Joshua to be some new Mike Tyson & when he loses its gonna be a Buster Douglas type moment of shock that'll leave a lot of jaws on the floor so I can relate to what you're saying.Comment
