  • De La Hoya Doesn't Like Spence Fighting in The UK

“First of all, look, Errol Spence is the best fighter Premier Boxing Champions [has],” said De La Hoya. “He’s the best guy they have, and yet they’re sending him overseas. That doesn’t make sense. I would have built him here and created a superstar with Errol Spence. He’s an amazing star. They can take the fight away from him,” said De La Hoya about the judges overseas.

“Something could happen. When you fight overseas, something can always happen,” said De La Hoya about Spence possibly losing by a robbery against Brook in England. I heard, yes, and he’s a perfect example,” said De La Hoya in commenting on American Gabriel Rosado’s controversial 12 round majority decision loss to British fighter Martin Murray last Saturday night in Liverpool, England. “When you have a fighter like Errol Spence, you make sure you look out for his best interest. Like I said, I can’t fight for him, but I can definitely take care of him and promote him the right way. Yeah, I wouldn’t have done that,” said De La Hoya about not letting Spence fight Brook in his home country at Bramall Lane in Sheffield, England.

Its definitely a risk & Oscar gots a point. One of the few times Oscar has had a point lately.

I do think there is something to be said for being bold in this era doe. Going to the other guys den & to fight for his belt is only going to help you look better in the long run win or lose.

Can you blame him ? In the other thread with the announcement of the Klitschko and Joshua officials it's basically a lottery of who's been paid off by Hearn in the event it goes to points.

I'd run a poll and competition if I thought it was going points but I think Klitschko stops him regardless, gotta learn to swim before you get in the deep end.

Spence is either getting blasted out or Brook is getting squashed!! Don't see this being a tight fight.

Oscar was across here to see linares crolla 2.. There was no problem there..

I was at Murray Rosado near the front, and that was robbery! But I doubt the judges were paid off by Hearn, he wouldn't want some bats#it crazy scores like that discouraging good pay day fighters from coming to fight on his shows, come on. This is about the sanctioning bodies and their ****ty judges, plenty of them worldwide

This is how boxing should be. Brook is the champion so his mandatory should go to him, especially as neither fighter is that well known in USA anyway. Yeah, fighters can get a raw deal sometimes when they fight abroad, but that also goes for non-american fighters going to USA too sometimes, it works both ways but you have to take the opportunities when they come.

We all remember bad scorecards because they're a talking point, but for every really bad scorecard there's plenty of good ones.

Anyway, maybe Spence is confident enough not to worry about the judges, which is how fighters should be.

That said, these awful cards need to be stopped. Harsh fines or bans need to be put in place to deter judges who are clearly not scoring in a fair manner.

                  Protected American fighters.

                  Ward
                  Floyd

Spence has nuts. Big black nuts. I like him. He will not join the rest of these hometown boys.
