If you wanna be completely honest, Floyd completely changed the boxing game at the highest level. He might be the only ATG in history to never have to fight another ATG in their prime, and another HOF or elite caliber fighter in their prime, and didn't even care to prove himself on that level.
Even the biggest money makers fought a who's who of elite fighters in their prime, and other fighters to prove themselves. Floyd might be the first boxer in history to literally not give a crap about himself on that level against another ATG/HOF caliber fighter that was a rival, adnd in their absolutely prime.
Hell, Oscar fought Shane Mosley at his absolute peak when he was a monster. And his resume goes on and on. Floyd just didn't feel the need to do that. He's still a great fighter, and there's no denying that, but way too many things in his favor during negotiations for his big fights. Just can't put him up there with the absolute best like the sugar Ray, Duran, and Ali's. He's definitely top 20ish.
Does it take anything away from Julio Cesar Chavez, Joe Louis, Larry Holmes, Joe Calzaghe, Bernard Hopkins, many more....they never beat prime all time greats either....just sayingComment

when you look at shane, not ducking a style nightmare in Forrest, and Oscar having a prime Quartey, Pac, Floyd, Vargas, Shane, and Trinidad on his resume, with past primers, but still good Chavez (atg), Camacho, and Whitaker (atg), supplementing it, and solid guys like Carr and Rivera, both peak, @ 147 and 154, it makes you ask some questions definitely
All those guys you mention thought they were the best and looked for chances to prove it. I was lucky to grow up watching those guys fight.Comment

How old was Floyd when he won that 1st title? How old was loma?
I am not debating that loma has skills that are top notch. It's just that he hasn't displayed them against the same level of comp.
Shakur Stevenson has shown skills in his debut. Can I compare him to loma? Of course not.Comment
